CBD Helped my Crohn's Disease and Allowed Me To Decrease My Pain Meds and Taper Off My Steroids Before My Bowel Resection

I am 55 years old. I am from Kansas City, Missouri and I have been dealing with Crohn's Disease for over 25 years.
I was struggling with constant pain, anxiety, and sleepless nights
It felt like everything was spiraling out of control. My body, my bowels, my life… I didn’t feel like myself anymore.
Before I started using CBD, I wasn't leaving the house
I was spending my days in the fetal position with my pajamas being my daily attire. I had lost hope in finding any relief from my daunting days. I was on high doses of steroids along with a regimen of hydrocodone every 4 hours for days on end. The side effects—especially from the steroids—included relentless insomnia, extreme irritability, mood swings, and a constant feeling of being on edge. Combined with the effects of all the other medications, it felt like I was stuck on a never-ending gerbil wheel I couldn’t escape from.
I had heard of CBD from a friend who was using it for his dog's arthritis
So I purchased a bottle from Amazon, hoping it would help my dog and possibly myself. After realizing that what I had purchased was a hoax, I searched for ways to make my own medicine and ran across the website Wake & Bake. I was then introduced to the Cannabis Coaching Institute through its website and Corrine, the founder. I enrolled in her program and became a Cannabis Coach so I could help others with this plant medicine.
I dove into the scientific reasons why Cannabis works
It helped me relieve the stigma I had always had around it. As a teenager, I had smoked "pot" and never knew of its medicinal properties until enrolling in the Cannabis Coaching Institute.
I microdosed CBD oil for months
Until learning about CBG and the anti-inflammatory properties it has. Then I began making my CBG oil and taking it in the morning, as it gave me energy as well. Then I took CBD in the afternoon and evenings to help relieve anxiety and assist in obtaining better quality sleep.
My surgeon and GI doctor said my post-surgery recovery was a miracle
After using CBD oil consistently for several months, I was able to reduce my dependence on pain pills by 50%—a huge milestone for me. Even more incredibly, I was eventually able to quit taking steroids altogether. That allowed my body the chance to heal, and I recovered from my bowel resection in a truly remarkable time frame. For the first time in years, I felt like I was reclaiming my life.
My surgeon and GI doctor said my post-surgery recovery was a miracle!
Now, I live free from the grip of daily medications, hospital visits, and the fear of flare-ups. I have energy, clarity, and control over my own body again—something I never thought possible during my darkest moments. This healing journey has not only restored my health, but it has also given me a deeper purpose: to help others see that healing is possible and that there's life beyond diagnosis.
I have not seen a GI doctor since my post-surgery visit and my Crohn's disease has been in remission since. Now, I live free from the grip of daily medications, hospital visits, and the fear of flare-ups. I have energy, clarity, and control over my own body again—something I never thought possible during my darkest moments. This healing journey has not only restored my health, but it’s given me a deeper purpose: to help others see that healing is possible and there is life beyond diagnosis.
These days, I don’t rely on Cannabis products as part of my daily routine.
However, I do use them occasionally and intentionally to manage pain from minor injuries that come with living an active, adventurous lifestyle—and, let’s be honest, the natural wear and tear of getting older. Whether it’s a sore joint from a hike or muscle tension after weight training, Cannabis has become a trusted, natural tool in my wellness toolbox. I see it as a support, not a solution—something I turn to when my body needs a little extra care, without the risks or side effects of pharmaceuticals.
